Alex Allan Integrated offers a style of Yoga that is unique and specific to those who want to reduce stress, get a good stretch, and prefer to find their spiritual enlightenment elsewhere. Our classes are less about chanting and more about total relaxation of the nervous system. So much of big city life is fast paced and stressful. The body responds to the many small stressors we experience in our day by constantly activating the 'fight or flight' response of the sympathetic nervous system. As a result, our muscles become constantly tight and contracted as our resting stress levels rise. This response can lead to movement dysfunction, heightened blood pressure, elevated stress hormones, and tissue breakdown. Combined with natural decreases in flexibility with age, this can make us feel old, achy, and limited. Our classes help to reduce tension, increase flexibility, and teach the client how to simply 'chill out'. The classes are taught by Ava Waldman who has over 15 years experience in Yoga teaching, and is incredible at finding the balance between traditional yoga practice and a relaxing, laugh out loud experience that is sure to reduce stress and increase flexibility.
